When you live in a city that’s always moving forward, it can be hard to find a moment to stand still. We can sometimes notice:
- A growing gap between our busy outer life and our quiet inner world.
- A feeling of running on empty, with little time left for ourselves.
- A sense that we’re managing, but not necessarily feeling okay.
Online therapy offers a confidential space to pause and make sense of these feelings, without adding another journey across Leeds or West Yorkshire to your day.
How I approach therapy for life in Leeds
From the financial district to the universities in Headingley and the creative hub at Leeds Dock, the city’s energy is undeniable. But this pace can also be demanding.
My approach is to provide a calm, consistent space that fits around the realities of your life. Online sessions give you the flexibility to talk from your home or a private office at work. We can look at the pressures you're facing at a rhythm that feels manageable for you.
What our sessions might look like
We will meet for 50 minutes each week using a secure and confidential video platform. The first session is a gentle conversation about what’s on your mind and what you might hope for from our conversations.
From there, we can explore whatever feels important. This might include:
- Making sense of stress and burnout from a demanding job or caring responsibilities.
- Easing the grip of anxiety and overthinking that can make it hard to rest.
- Improving communication in your relationships with partners, family, or friends.
- Rebuilding self-esteem and confidence after a setback at work or in your personal life.
- Finding ways to manage feelings of anger and frustration in a healthier way.
- Loosening the hold of perfectionism and pressure that can come with academic or professional life.
- Talking about loneliness and isolation, which can feel surprising in a busy city.
- Navigating life transitions, such as a career change, relocation, or new family dynamic.
A feel for the work
Composite example: A client, a project manager splitting her time between Leeds and York, felt pulled in multiple directions. Her high-profile role demanded her full attention, but she also felt the weight of caring for her elderly parents.
In our weekly online sessions, held on a day when she would work from home, we created a space for her to talk about the tension she was holding. Over time, she began to notice her own needs more clearly and found small, practical ways to carve out time for herself, feeling less overwhelmed and more grounded.
A space for different people in Leeds
I work with adults from all backgrounds, genders, and sexualities. Leeds is a diverse city, and I am committed to offering therapy that honours your unique experience, whether you’re a student, a professional, an artist, or a parent.
My postgraduate training in Gender, Sex, and Relationship Diversity (GSRD) therapy informs my work. This means I have a specific understanding of the experiences of LGBTQ+ and queer people, as well as those in non-monogamous or polyamorous relationships. Our sessions can be a place where you don't have to edit or explain yourself.
Working together
If this resonates, you’re welcome to book an initial conversation.
.It’s a brief, no-obligation video call for us to meet, talk about what you’re looking for, and see if working together feels right.
You can also send me a message or review my fees page if you have questions.
Suitability and local alternatives
My practice is designed for adults who want to talk through personal or emotional difficulties. Online therapy may not be the right choice if you are in a crisis or need immediate, urgent help.
If you are in distress, please consider one of these options:
- Contact your GP for an emergency appointment.
- Call 111 (or 999 if you are in immediate danger).
- Reach out to a local Leeds or national support service.
Leeds & West Yorkshire Resources:
- Leeds Mind: A local charity offering peer support, counselling, and wellbeing courses.
- Touchstone: Provides culturally sensitive mental health services.
- Leeds Survivor-Led Crisis Service: Offers out-of-hours crisis support for people in Leeds.
- Yorkshire MESMAC: Provides sexual health, mental health, and community support for LGBTQ+ people.
- Live Well Leeds: A city-wide mental health support service for adults.
Counselling and emotional support; not a medical or diagnostic service. If you’re in immediate danger, contact emergency services or a UK helpline.
