The train pulls into New Street station, but the day is far from over. Another evening commute awaits on the Cross-City Line, leaving little time or energy to unpack the weight of the week. You feel you are constantly moving, but not necessarily forwards.
Online therapy offers a quiet, confidential space that is yours alone, without adding another journey into the city centre. We can meet from wherever you feel most comfortable, whether that’s at home in Moseley or a private room at your office in the Jewellery Quarter.
How I approach online therapy for Birmingham
Many people I work with feel the pressure of the city's pace—from demanding roles in finance and healthcare to the academic rhythm of its universities. Finding a moment of stillness can feel impossible when you are navigating busy schedules, and the general hum of a life in constant motion.
Online sessions remove the practical barriers of travel and waiting rooms. They provide a consistent, reliable space to talk things through, even if your work takes you between Solihull, Coventry, and central Birmingham. My aim is to offer a calm, steady conversation that fits around the realities of your life here.
What might bring you to counselling?
People seek therapy for all sorts of reasons. Often, it begins with a quiet sense that something isn’t right, or that old ways of coping are no longer working.
You may recognise some of these feelings:
- Stress and burnout from juggling a demanding career with family life.
- A persistent hum of anxiety and overthinking that makes it hard to switch off.
- Difficulties in your relationships, leaving you feeling misunderstood or lonely.
- A dip in self-esteem and confidence following a redundancy, performance review, or life change.
- A feeling of being stuck or wondering about your purpose and direction in life.
- Overwhelming anger or frustration that feels difficult to manage.
- The weight of perfectionism that makes it hard to feel good enough.
- A sense of loneliness despite being surrounded by people.
Finding your footing
Life in a vibrant, sprawling city can sometimes feel at odds with our internal world. Here is how we might begin to bridge that gap in our work together.
| What life in Birmingham can feel like | How we might approach it in our sessions |
|---|---|
| The pressure to keep pace with the city's constant development. | Creating a quiet, consistent 50-minute space just for you. |
| Feeling isolated despite being surrounded by millions of people. | Gently looking at your connections and what might feel missing. |
| Juggling work, commutes, and family life, with no room left for yourself. | Making sense of competing demands and finding space for your own needs. |
A space for all kinds of people
I work with adults from all backgrounds, genders, and sexualities. Birmingham’s strength is its diversity, and I am committed to offering therapy that respects your unique identity and experiences.
My postgraduate training in Gender, Sex, and Relationship Diversity therapy informs my work. This means I have a specific understanding of the experiences of LGBTQ+ and queer people, as well as those in non-monogamous or polyamorous relationships. Together, we can create a space where you don’t have to explain or justify yourself.
How our online sessions work
We will meet weekly for 50-minute sessions using a secure and confidential video platform. All you need is a reliable internet connection and a private space where you won’t be overheard.
Many people find a rhythm that works for them, such as booking a regular slot during their lunch break or in the morning aheading off to work. I ask for 72 hours’ notice if you need to reschedule a session.
You can find more details about my general approach on the counselling overview page and information about session costs on my fees page.
