Online Therapy & Counselling for Men in the UK

Many men are used to holding things together—for their families, their work, and their communities. It’s common to manage the pressure and carry on, often with little room to talk about what’s really going on underneath.

You might be coping on the surface but feeling stretched, flat, or stuck in familiar patterns. Therapy offers a confidential, non-judgemental space to take stock of your experiences, make sense of emotions, and find a way forward that feels more authentic to you.

Why Men Get in Touch

People come to counselling for many reasons. There is no right or wrong reason to start, and you don’t need to have a clear story or a specific problem to solve. Often, it begins with a general sense that something isn’t right.

Some of the areas we can explore together include:

Stress, Burnout, and Feeling Overwhelmed

Work, finances, caring responsibilities, or study can create a constant sense of pressure. We can look at the sources of stress in your life and find ways to manage the feeling of being overwhelmed or burned out.

Difficulties in Relationships

Relationships are complex. You might be struggling with communication, frequent conflict, emotional distance, or the challenges of co-parenting. We can also work through the pain of a separation, divorce, or bereavement.

Anxiety, Low Mood, or Feeling Stuck

You may be noticing persistent worry, overthinking, restlessness, or even panic. Or perhaps it’s a feeling of numbness, isolation, or a general lack of meaning. Therapy can be a place to understand these feelings without judgment.

Anger and Frustration

Anger is a natural human emotion, but it can feel destructive when it leads to outbursts you later regret. We can approach your anger with curiosity, exploring what it might be signalling about underlying hurt, fear, or crossed boundaries.

Big Life Questions and Transitions

Major life changes—becoming a father, shifting careers, redundancy, moving, or facing illness—can bring your identity and values into question. Therapy provides a space to navigate these transitions and what they mean for you.

Intimacy and Sexuality

Concerns around sexual health, desire, and intimacy are very common. We can talk openly about mismatched libidos, concerns about porn use, performance anxiety, and how to communicate your needs and boundaries.

How We Can Work Together

Our sessions are a conversation, one that moves at your pace. There’s no pressure to perform or to have all the answers. Silence is welcome, and you don’t need to worry about being ‘good at talking’.

My approach is grounded in a few key principles:

  • Psychodynamic Therapy: We might explore how past experiences and relationships can unconsciously shape your current feelings, behaviours, and patterns. By making these links, new choices can become possible.
  • Humanistic Counselling: This means I trust in your capacity to grow and find your own way. My role is to listen carefully and help you connect with your own inner resources and understanding.
  • GSRD-Informed Practice: I have specialist training in Gender, Sex, and Relationship Diversity. This means my work is affirming and knowledgeable about LGBTQ+ identities, kink, and diverse relationship structures.

Ultimately, our work is about building a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel able to bring whatever is on your mind.

Exploring Your Experience

Fatherhood

Becoming a father brings profound change, mixing joy with immense pressure. It’s a space to honestly discuss bonding, the mental load, co-parenting dynamics, and how your own upbringing influences the kind of father you want to be.

Men in Demanding Roles

If your work in fields like leadership, tech, healthcare, or the emergency services involves high stakes and confidentiality, it can be hard to switch off. Weekly therapy offers a reliable, contained space to process the demands of your role without fear of judgment.

A Space for All Men

My practice is an inclusive and affirming space for all men. If you are looking for support that speaks more directly to your sexuality or gender identity, you may find these pages helpful:

Is This Approach Right for You?

Therapy is a personal process, and finding the right fit is important. My relational, exploratory style is well-suited for those who are curious about themselves and want to understand their inner world more deeply.

This way of working may be less suitable if you are looking for a highly structured, goal-oriented approach with worksheets, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). If that sounds more like what you need, I am happy to help signpost you to other services.

My practice is not an emergency service. Online therapy is not always appropriate for individuals experiencing acute mental health crises or who feel at immediate risk of harming themselves or others.

If you need urgent help, please contact your GP, call 999, go to A&E, or call the Samaritans for free on 116 123.

  • My Background: I hold a Master’s degree in Gender Studies, a Bachelor’s in Psychology, and a postgraduate diploma in Gender, Sex & Relationship Diversity therapy. I am an Accredited Member of the BACP.
